Teaching & Training

1. Lectures for the staff of GVK EMRI. GVK EMRI handles medical, police and fire emergencies through the "1-0-8 Emergency service". This is a free service delivered through state- of -art emergency call response centres and has over 3160 ambulances across Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Assam, Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and 2 Union Territories Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu. GVK EMRI is the only professional Emergency Service Provider in India today. Since poisoning is a common emergency, CEARCH provided basic training in the management of common poisonings to the EMRI centre at Ahmedabad in the months of January and February, 2011. Through the web services, these lectures were also attended by staff from Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand,

2. In collaboration with GSDMA (Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority), CEARCH organized a number of workshops for medical personnel in the year 2011. The workshops were titled as MedicalResponse in Toxicological Emergencies" A training module was distributed to all participating doctors. One day workshops were conducted on 11th, 18th and 24th March, 2011. There were 25-30 participants in each workshop. On request from the attending doctors, the workshop duration was increased to two days. Workshops were conducted on 23-24 May, 30-31 May, 20-21 June, 11-12 August, 2011

3. Guest lecture by Dr. Aruna Dewan on "Poisoning in Pediatrics" for members of Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Ahmedabad branch on 24th July, 2011.


4. Guest lecture for Indian Pharmacological Society (IPS), Ahmedabad Branch on 8th October, 2011. Dr. Aruna Dewan spoke on "Present Status of Clinical Toxicology in India"


5. CME on "Emergency toxicology" on 14.7.2013, organized by Department of Emergency Medicine, B.J.Medical College, Civil Hospital, AhmedabadGuestlecture by Dr. Aruna Dewan on "Diagnosis and managing of pesticide emergencies".


6. Invited as Guest faculty to National Assembly on Pediatric Emergency Medicine (NAPEM) 2014 & Academy of Pediatrics, Ahmedabad.

7 Invited for a series of lectures on various types of poisoning for Critical Care Tutorials on 14th Februray,2016.
